The Pursuit of Holiness

 CD 1-20

Our Heavenly Father is holy and He requires us to be holy- which is a lifestyle. He has also declared us righteous and we are to live out a set-apart life from the world.

God’s Word says in Galatians 5:16,

In order to live holy as the Lord commands us, it is necessary to understand what holiness is- which is living a life set apart from the world. Paul reminds us in Galatians 5:16 to “walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord, you are no longer a sinner, because you have been washed by the blood of the Lamb. You are now clean and our Heavenly Father has declared you righteous.

Holiness is not automatic, it’s a choice that as believers, we must make and pursue daily. Paul warns Christians against being a practitioner of sin. In Galatians 5:16-19, Paul lists seventeen works of the flesh that the church should be aware of before they find themselves practicing certain fleshly works. God’s Word says in Colossians 3:1-2

Our Heavenly Father despises sin and He can not stand the scent of abomination, which is why He has caused His people to walk differently from non believers. God’s Word says in Romans 5:18

Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life.”

Adam’s act resulted in condemnation, but Jesus Christ’s act, the last Adam, resulted in justification. We have been declared righteous through the blood of the Lamb. As Christians we should remain on a quest to pursue holiness and understand that Christ came to fulfill the law
