Who Does This?

Do you fully comprehend the awesome, perfect love that God has for you? The Bible tells us that while we were yet dead in sins and trespasses, Christ died for us. “But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us” (Romans 5:8, AMP). Christ died for us because of His perfect love for us.

The New Testament is not about how much you love God but how much He loves you. In the new covenant of grace, God did not intend to burden us with a bunch of rules and regulations, where everyone is judging everyone else. The new covenant is all about having an intimate, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.

I think that’s what the Church is missing today. We come to church to get biblical principles to live by, but we don’t see Jesus. I love principles, and I thank God for principles. But principles aren’t going to do you any good if you don’t start at first base. How can you live by principles and not understand the primary, most rooted issue of life—which is understanding the love that God has for you? What do you think will happen when a bunch of Christians start depending on the overflow of love that God has for them? We’ll take this world and turn it “right side” up for the kingdom of God!

In Hebrews 8:10 God says, “I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” God has written the law of love on the heart of every born-again person. When God writes this love on your heart, and in your mind, the first thing that happens is that you fall deeply in love with Jesus. When you fall in love with Jesus, that love is going to overflow into all of your relationships. This is how God equips us to fulfill John 13:34, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.”

The love you have for Jesus will spill over into your other relationships. When a wife knows that God loves her, she can love her husband, and vice versa. How does this happen? It’s the overflow of love that God’s given you, and that you now have for Him. But if you try to love people without understanding how much God loves you, it’s a struggle. When you understand how deeply He loves you, the struggle ends. There’s no struggle with getting healed, or prospering, or anything, when you’re convinced that God loves you.

God sent His only Son to die for you. He’s written His law of love on your heart. He’s given you the gift of non-imputation of sin (Romans 4:8). He’s given you the gift of no condemnation (Romans 8:1). He’s given you the gift of everlasting life and eternity in His presence. WHO DOES THIS? If He did all that for you, is there anything He’s going to withhold from you?

Begin to spend a lot of time meditating on scriptures about the love that God has for you. When you become convinced that you’re highly favored and deeply loved by God, there’s absolutely nothing that can stop you…because GOD LOVES YOU!
